Product information is based on published manufacturer specifications, not hands-on testing.

Decide how you will play and what you can spend

Consider whether you want an occasional social game, regular practice or competition. Include shoes, balls and session fees in your budget. We suggest a rental or demo before narrowing the shortlist; your most expensive option is not automatically the best fit.

Compare the number with the feel

A model can have multiple weight options. For example, YONEX lists L at 215 g and M at 230 g for the EZONE in the Japanese specification used here. A lower weight does not suit everyone. Use a borrowed paddle as a reference and note the exact weight option, balance and ease of handling.

Thickness is one specification, not a performance score

Face material, shape and construction also differ between paddles. A 14 mm label alone does not prove a paddle will provide more power. Check how the manufacturer measures thickness: YONEX’s cited face thickness excludes the edge guard.

Check grip length as well as size

Brands may use a size code or a circumference in centimetres or inches. Understand the unit before comparing. A two-handed player may also need a longer handle. Adding an overgrip changes both the feel and total weight.

Compare like for like before paying

Our tables compare published specifications, not hands-on ratings. Check the exact model and weight option, current price, delivery, returns and warranty with the seller. For tournaments, confirm that the particular model is allowed under the organiser’s current equipment rules.
